Jennifer Aniston has never been to the Met Gala, but it's not because she hasn't scored an invite.
In an interview with Glamour published Tuesday (September 2), the Morning Show star explained the reason she has never attended the iconic fashion event despite being one of the biggest names in Hollywood, per People.
"Yes, I have [been invited] but I don't go," she admitted. "It overwhelms me."
The Met Gala is known for celebrities, actors, influencers and other stars showing out on the red carpet, donning elaborate ensembles with perfectly styled hair and makeup. However, the intense process isn't that appealing to the Friends alum.
"It's the getting ready, the putting on the dress," she said. "I'm a 'jeans and flip-flops and tank top' kind of girl. I love dressing up too, but for me it's a mental game of... 'Let's get dressed up, put on a fancy dress, makeup, get your hair all 'purdy' and go sit in a big room with your peers.' [And yes,] everyone's there to celebrate each other and have some fun, but I get nervous."
The nerves aren't just reserved for the Met Gala as Aniston noted that other red carpet events also often draw in harsh critics.
"Some people find it like a sport where they build you up and then they love to tear you down," she said. "What's the reason why people do it? Who knows? But I just try as best I can [to tune it out] because it doesn't do any good."
The beloved actress has recently made headlines for her budding romance with Hollywood hypnotist Jim Curtis rather than any red carpet appearance. Insiders have reported that her friends are happy for her and that her new rumored beau is "like a breath of fresh air."
