Nicole Kidman has filed for divorce from country superstar Keith Urban after news of their separation broke on Monday (September 29).

TMZ was first to report on Tuesday (September 30) that Kidman, 58, filed for divorce from Urban, 57, after nearly two decades of marriage. She cited “irreconcilable differences.” The celebrity news hub was also first to report that Kidman and Urban have been separated since the beginning of summer, citing “multiple sources with direct knowledge.” Unnamed sources told TMZ, PEOPLE and other news outlets that Kidman aimed to save her marriage to Urban. A source told PEOPLE on Monday that “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another. She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.” Sources told PEOPLE on Tuesday that Kidman “feels very betrayed,” and “it’s devastating to her. She’s shocked.”

Kidman and Urban met at a gala in 2005 in Los Angeles, California, and got married the following year in Sydney, Australia. They share two teen daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. The pair have been absent from one another’s social media posts for months. Urban’s last post that included Kidman was on May 9, when he won the prestigious Triple Crown at the milestone 60th ACM Awards. Kidman’s last post with Urban was on June 25, marking the couple’s 19th wedding anniversary.

Neither Kidman nor Urban have publicly commented on the spit as of publication time on Tuesday.
