A San Diego salon owner, Andrea Velez, is seeking justice after two women allegedly left her salon without paying for $550 worth of beauty treatments. The incident occurred on New Year's Eve at the Makeup and Style Salon, where Velez captured the supposed mother-daughter duo on camera as they walked out without settling their bill.
According to Velez, the women booked nearly $600 in services, leaving a $50 deposit. They received multiple treatments over a five-hour period and even posed for promotional videos. However, when it came time to pay, the women reportedly distracted Velez with offers of champagne and caviar before leaving.
Velez explained to KUSI that one of the women initially provided her Cash App information instead of a credit card, claiming she was driving and unable to read off the card details. Despite attempts to contact them after the payment didn't go through, Velez received no response.
In an effort to identify the women, Velez filed a police report and shared the footage on social media. She expressed her intention to warn other beauty professionals and small business owners about such scams. "This was a HUGE lesson for me," Velez wrote online, emphasizing the need for stricter payment policies in the future.
