As Lt. Natasha "Phoenix" Trace she's one of the new faces in Top Gun: Maverick, but you may recognize Monica Barbaro from her previous work in tons of cop shows....Chicago P.D., Chicago Justice, The Good Cop. According to Fox News, Bay Area native Barbaro got a chance to fly with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels as part of San Francisco's Fleet Week.
Barbaro was nominated for the VIP flight in recognition of her charitable efforts in the community. She is active with organizations including The Make-A-Wish Foundation, the ACLU, and The Wingman Foundation, raising money for military families who've lost loved ones serving in the armed forces.
She told KPIX CBS that her flight time during the intense production of Top Gun: Maverick prepared her for the flight. The team honored her by posting her name and her movie call sign on the sides of the jet she flew in with Lieutenant Commander Griffin Stangel.
